If you’ve read my publication and find yourself leaning toward belief in the existence of God, you might ask: what now? How do you grow a personal relationship with Him?
The answer begins simply: through your thoughts and prayers and commitment to God. God longs for us to acknowledge Him as our Creator and to seek a direct, personal relationship with Him. He knows our deepest thoughts and hears our prayers.
The power of prayer is invaluable!
Confirming your belief in Him, entrusting your future into His care, expressing sorrow for your failings, and practicing goodness—these are the essentials He asks of us.
WHAT ELSE?
From a Christian perspective, participating in church services can help you deepen your faith and share in the teachings Jesus left us. Baptism symbolizes freedom from the original sin of humanity and opens the way to eternal life with God. If you already attend church, you may be doing what you need to stay grounded in faith.
It is not my intention to debate or dictate church doctrines. These are for you to explore, study, and embrace as you feel led. For me, I have been a life-long Roman Catholic, a faith which traces its existence back to the time of the apostles.
As Jesus warned, “many will come in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are wolves” (Matthew 7:15). It can be difficult to discern what is genuine. That is why seeking truth sincerely and prayerfully is so important.
THE BLUEPRINT
We remain free to accept or reject belief in God. Faith cannot be forced. Yet many people eventually arrive at a moment where the possibility of God and the message of Jesus cannot be dismissed lightly. Why are we here? Why do we die?
For believers, the answer ultimately lies in relationship – with the God who created humanity not out of necessity, but out of love.
Ultimately, belief in God carries responsibility. Each of us will one day account to Him for how we have lived our lives. Let that accountability inspire hope and purpose as you take your next steps in faith.
There can be a ‘new beginning’ in a relationship with God. Human frailty is what it is and forgiveness can be sought. I hope this journey will inspire you to form your own acceptance of God and that you can assist others to do the same. Jesus was widely reported to have performed many miracles during his lifetime and forgiveness of others is His paramount concern.
“There is more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance” (Luke 18:14).
ALERT
IT IS BEST TO DO SOMETHING RATHER THAN NOTHING, AND TO DO IT SOONER RATHER THAN LATER!
The door, it seems, is open. The question is whether we are willing to walk through it.
It is never too late to start, despite the stories of our lives to date.
If this is true, it is the most important truth we will ever consider.
You may not have all the answers, but you have sufficient to begin your journey of discovery.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you” – Matthew 7:7
“For God did not send His son into the world to condemn it, but that the world might be saved through Him” – John 3:17
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” – John 8:32
Best wishes.
